Content marketer Ashley Cummings writes an excellent newsletter on how to grow your business via content. Ashley’s a mainstay of the freelance copywriter community on LinkedIn and Twitter.
The amount of people receiving this newsletter right now could fill a Broadway theater. We’re going to take over Carnegie Hall next!
It’s been a massive learning curve bringing us all together in Low Energy Leads. I started out with a mailing list of around 50 clients and supporters. Every person who joined us after that is here because of an email list experiment.
What kinds of email list experiments, Lex? I’m so glad you asked.
I typically experiment around three angles: channel, audience and message. In the video, I share techniques like lead magnets (not a fan) and newsletter swaps (kind of a fan) as well as Beehiiv’s recommendation engine (major fan) and more!
Growing the list is one thing. Growing it with people who will get value from it, come back week after week and build a relationship with you…that’s another level. I learned early on I could pad the list by running volume-driven tests and then have those people bounce off in a couple months. Not that valuable.
In this week’s edition of The Low Energy Leads Show, I cover 8 different experiments I ran to grow my email list and how they turned out.
I hope it gives you some ideas for how you grow your audience. My recommendation always is to treat each idea as a test first until it proves it’s worth your energy 😉
Speaking of email experiments, did you know I have a newsletter referral program? Whoever refers the most subscribers by the end of August wins a featured podcast sponsor spot on my small but mighty show! Scroll to the bottom of this email to grab your unique link!
