Networking for introverts: systems
You asked and we answered! Tools, structure and strategies to make your networking more valuable
Low Energy Link of the Week
If you need a co-conspirator for your next big move, you’re going to want to check this out. Kari Ginsburg offers such rare refreshing energy. She can take you from stuck to soaring in one session.
Networking sounds vague and time-consuming.
Who should I network with?
How will I know if I have done enough?
What is networking anyway?
And for introverts, the questions can get bigger.
How do I protect my energy when talking with others?
Where will I find accessible groups and events?
What’s the best way to grow a relationship over time?
That’s why today, we’re starting the first in a series of three on Networking for Introverts. You asked and we answered with tactical details on the systems, places and conversations that go into your networking.
To put this series together, I asked for your help and you delivered! This series includes experts that run the gamut from successful introverted entrepreneurs and skilled networkers to relationship experts. Each episode features their tips and tools. I learned a ton from them and know you will too.
When it comes to systems you use for networking, I heard three main strategies from the contributors:
Shift from quantity to quality: Featuring Anish Parikh of BuckFifty, systems strategist Devin Lee and Sustainability by Vance on ways to understand and deepen relationships you already have and why that's going to yield more value than constantly high fiving strangers.
Know yourself and your goals: Featuring Vance, copywriter Val Casola and creative Chris Melvin on how to set goals for networking and ways to be mindful of your energy.
Make it two-sided: Featuring author Kat Vellos (as seen on Brendan Jarvis’ show Brave UX) and designer Kristin Au on how to make your networking a bit more even-keeled with outside input.
This series is brought to you by Connection Club, run by Kat Vellos. Connection Club is a truly rad membership community for those of us working on how to forge better connections and friendships.
Watch the episode to soak in everyone’s tips and by the way, I’m still taking contributions for the series. If you have a tip on networking as an introvert, hit reply!
P.S. No Growth Gym this week but I’ll be back next Friday with a special guest!
