Not sure where to get more clients? You’re in luck! Web designer Christy Price and I are hosting a FREE TRAINING on Thu, Nov 9 at 11am Eastern on how to Crack the Formula to Find Your Buyers. It’s my most popular session by a longshot because I break down the difference between growth and marketing.

What if you could sell your service like a product?

I hear people talk a lot about the “trading time for money” problem in services. Many creatives charge hourly or at least price hourly and then scope a project around how much time it will take.

The appeal of selling products remains alluring. Make it once, sell it forever.

So, what if you could combine these two ideas?

That’s the promise of the productized service.

Productizing services has rapidly gained popularity in the last few years with firms like Designjoy, Two Step Social and Systems Club. When you productize your service, you simplify both its packaging and its delivery. You deliver it more like a product, involving things like automation, templates and repeatable workflows.

I’ve been tracking this trend closely so I jumped at the chance to interview productizer guru Philip Wallage. Philip has been an entrepreneur for over 14 years, both as a freelancer and as an agency owner. His experiences in both led him to become an expert in productization. So now he helps creatives repackage their bespoke services into more repeatable productized services.

The benefit? Getting paid for the value you deliver INSTEAD of the time you put in.

Productization is inspiring and whether you’re ready for a whole new way to work or you just want to draw some tips from this approach, you’re going to love Philip’s advice.

My top three takeaways from our conversation:
💡You have an opportunity to get really good at doing one thing and that’s worth more money than doing a lot of things kinda ok.

💡You don’t have to stick with that one thing forever and if you take on the product mindset, it’s just a starting place for your suite of services.

💡 Productization can work even when hiring freelancers onto your team. You can use it as a way to scale your agency when you develop packages with freelancers or if you collaborate with others who productize too.

Our conversation really got me thinking about whether I should get back into done for you work. Philip makes it sound much more fun with his method. Give the episode a listen and let me know what you’re thinking of productizing.

P.S. I finally gave Growthtrackers its own website and yes I know it’s hilarious that it took me so long
